Das Tierheim Trier wird durch den Verein „Tierschutzverein Trier und Umgebung e.V“ betrieben. Dieser ist unter der Registernummer VR 1139 beim Amtsgericht Wittlich eingetragen. Organe des Vereines sind, wie gesetzlich vorgeschrieben, Personen in der ehrenamtlichen Funktion des Vorstandes, Beisitzers, Beirates und der Mitgliederversammlung. Ziel des Vereines ist die aktive Umsetzung gelebten Tierschutzes.
